DUBLIN

PROS
-
It's very easy to meet and make friends.
-
Ireland is a super beautiful and easy to travel to country. It's an English-speaking country with a strong economy, home to major multinationals.
-
Dublin is a big city, but not too big. With lots to see and do: museums, concerts... At Christmas, it's beautiful.
-
Plenty of opportunities if you want to stay and work or continue studying.
CONS
-
The weather. If someone doesn't like rain, it can be a negative aspect. But for those who like that climate, it's the ideal place.
-
Accommodation is scarce and therefore prices are high.
-
Some parts of the city are notorious for crime depending on the time of day.
REGARDLESS ACCOMMODATION...
"The family that hosted me is incredible. They made me feel at home from the first day. Plus, the location wasn't bad."
"The lady is super nice, friendly, and kind."
"I looked into it with the HostingPower agency (app.hostingpower.ie). The price is €700 per month. There are other options, but the truth is that September is one of the worst months to move..."

TIPS IF YOU GO TO IRELAND
- Go with an open mind and enjoy it 100%.
- A raincoat, because sometimes the sun comes out and suddenly it rains.
- Before traveling, it's a good idea to become a member of the Erasmus Student Network. If you travel with Ryanair, they offer a 10% discount and a free suitcase. (This tip doesn't only apply to Ireland.)
- In Ireland, the Leap Card is used for public transport. As an Erasmus student, you are entitled to a 50% discount on the Student Leap Card. You can apply for it online and it will be sent to you by mail.
- If you choose HostingPower for hosting, it's a good idea to carefully read the Terms and Conditions to understand your rights in case of any problems.
- Consider opening an account with Revolut or N26; it's cheaper to withdraw money from ATMs with them than with traditional banks, which often charge high fees.
